Abbotsford voters resoundingly elect Kaler to school board
ABBOTSFORD — Abbotsford voters have resoundingly elected a youth advocate and committed community volunteer as their newest member of the Abbotsford Board of Education in Saturday’s by-election.
According to unofficial results from the City of Abbotsford, Arsh Kaler received 2,908 votes out of 4,830 ballots cast, or 60 per cent.
Tanya Coghill garnered 26.7 per cent (1,290 votes), followed by Benjamin Mehrer (356 votes) and Graeme Hutchison (276 votes).
“The Abbotsford Board of Education congratulates Arsh Kaler, who at this time has unofficially been declared the winner of the by-election for the school trustee seat. Mr. Kaler will be officially sworn in on October 21st, and the Board looks forward to welcoming him to this new role,” the Abbotsford school board wrote in a statement issued Saturday night.
