‘Game-changing’ cough simulator gifted to Abbotsford Regional Hospital
CHILLIWACK – A unique health aid that helps clear mucus from the lungs by simulating a natural cough is being hailed as a “game-changing tool” by health care experts in Abbotsford.
The cough assist machine, designated for the respiratory department at Abbotsford Regional Hospital (ARH), is expected to aid patients who are unable to effectively clear secretions due to conditions affecting the muscles and peripheral nerves.
“The cough assist is a game-changing tool designed to help patients who struggle with natural coughing, ensuring that secretions are cleared effectively and reducing the risk of respiratory complications,” the Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation (FVHCF) said in a release.
Dr. Lakhbir K. Jassal, from FVHCF’s Donor Relations department, stated that a TB Vets donation was instrumental in providing the equipment.
