Long-time Chilliwack resident Lisa Morry goes for new bid at city council seat

CHILLIWACK — Lisa Morry, a volunteer, former journalist and – up until recently – a union officer at the University of the Fraser Valley, is now giving another try at securing a city council seat at the upcoming fall election.

“I’m running for Chilliwack city council because as neighbours we all depend on each other,” said Morry. “Housing, food security, agriculture, transportation, recreation, and fire protection are big issues for everyone in our community. I’m passionate about these issues and will bring your concerns to council.”

Morry, who previously ran in 2018, says her experience also includes creating opportunities for local producers and artisans as the founding director of the Downtown Chilliwack Community Market and the years-long fight to secure more funding for the fire department.

Her platform hopes to continue that advocacy while working to reduce traffic congestion, improve affordable housing, and expand recreational activities for children.
