MISSION – City of Mission officials have rescheduled the annual “Lighting of the Trees,” a holiday season kick-off event.

The event is now set for Centennial Park on Wednesday, December 4th, five days later than originally scheduled.

In a release, a spokesperson said the public is invited to a small community gathering featuring live music from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The lights will shine every evening after the kickoff and will remain lit until January 3rd.

The city will follow up with its North Pole-themed “Holiday Magic” community celebration in mid-December.

The free, family-friendly event will include visits from Santa and activities like ice skating, Reindeer Games in the Gym, and more.

The “Holiday Magic” celebration will take place at the Leisure Centre on Grande Street on December 15th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
