Express notch OT winner to beat the Chilliwack Chiefs

CHILLIWACK — Sam Frandina’s powerplay goal at 9:27 of overtime gave the Coquitlam Express a 3 – 2 win over the Chiefs in Chilliwack Friday (Feb. 16).

It was Frandina’s second goal of the night. His first came midway through the third period to tie the game at two and set up the overtime. Frandina also had an assist on Jake Manfre’s goal that opened the scoring in the first.

Caleb Elfering’s goal late in the first started the scoring for the Chiefs, who earned a single point with the overtime loss, moving them into a tie for second place in the Coastal Division standings with Alberni Valley. Brendan Ruskowski also scored for Chilliwack.

The Chiefs outshot Coquitlam 32 – 25.
