ABBOTSFORD — Abbotsford is playing ball on the world stage at the Canada Cup International Softball Championship this year.

The 29-year-old Callum Maskill, formerly Callum Pilgrim, is joining Team Canada’s 16-woman roster for the championship at Softball City in Surrey.

“British Columbia has long been a powerhouse for softball in Canada, and having nine athletes represent their province at the Canada Cup is a reflection of the incredible talent developed here,” said Head Coach Kaleigh Rafter.

“Playing in front of family, friends and young athletes who dream of one day wearing the maple leaf makes this tournament a truly special experience for our players.”

She joins eight other B.C.-based players, including Larissa Franklin from Maple Ridge and Langley’s Morgan Reimer, in returning to the top of the Canada Cup podium.

Canada’s last gold at the tournament was in 2024, though it recently came first at the 2026 WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Group Stage in Czechia.

The Canada Cup showcases some of the top female athletes across the country, as well as over 1,500 athletes at the national and club level.

This year’s Cup is set to take place from July 16 to 12.
