Chilliwack Chiefs winning streak snapped with loss in Surrey

SURREY — Aaron Schwartz scored with 24 seconds remaining in the third period to give the Surrey Eagles a hard-fought 2 – 1 victory over the Chilliwack Chiefs Friday (Dec. 8) night in Surrey.

The Coastal Division leaders opened the scoring early in the first period when Ty Brassington scored his fourth goal of the season on a powerplay.

Riding a six-game winning streak, the Chiefs tied the game at 5:36 of the third period when Savin Virk found the back of the net. The game appeared to be headed to overtime until Schwartz struck for his late game heroics, snapping the Chiefs winning streak.

Ajeet Gundarah stopped 29 of the 30 shots he faced in the Surrey net while Sustin McNicholas faced 34 shots in the Chiefs net.
