Toque Toss highlights busy weekend for Chilliwack Chiefs

Dec 8, 2023 | 1:30 PM

CHILLIWACK — The Chilliwack Chiefs are gearing up to win a game while also warming members of the community. Saturday (Dec. 9) night the Chilliwack Coliseum will play host to an important contest against the Coquitlam Express, but the real game-changer might be the “Toque Toss”.

In collaboration with Greater Vancouver Powersports, the Chiefs have organized an annual initiative to support Chilliwack Community Services. The moment the Chiefs light the lamp with their first goal on Saturday night, fans are encouraged to toss toques, mittens, and scarves onto the ice. These cozy contributions will benefit children and teens in the community, helping them to stay warm during the chilly winter season.

The toques and mittens collected during the toss will be donated to Chilliwack Community Services, a local organization that has been providing essential support to families in need. The program aims to address the growing number of teens in the community requiring additional assistance.

Last year’s Toque Toss was a resounding success, aiding over 600 families and nearly 1,300 children.
