Chilliwack Fire dispatched for trees on fire on Chilliwack Lake Road Thursday morning
CHILLIWACK — Three fire engines were dispatched Thursday morning after the Chilliwack Fire Department received a report of black smoke coming from trees in the 46000 block of Chilliwack Lake Road, about one kilometre east of the Vedder Bridge.
Engines 1, 4 and 4-2 were called out for the report of black smoke in trees, accompanied by a popping noise, Thursday morning at 7:49 a.m.
The address in question where the fire reportedly occurred, 46063 Chilliwack Lake Road, is within the city’s jurisdiction, but not by much. A short drive east on Chilliwack Lake Road becomes the service area for the Chilliwack River Valley Fire Department.
According to scanner traffic via Julie Hiscock, Chilliwack firefighters responded and witnessed smoke coming from the area. They gained access before locating a 20-foot by 20-foot fire. As of 8:09 a.m. Thursday, firefighters were extinguishing the fire.
