District of Hope calls out company for offering water sampling, treatment services to residents
HOPE — The District of Hope says an unidentified company is deceiving residents by saying they are from the “City of Hope” and perform water testing services.
According to a social media post on X/Twitter dated Friday, September 29 at 10:51 a.m., the district is advising residents not to fall prey to the apparent scam in which a company purports to represent the municipality and offers water sampling services.
“The District has received a report from a resident that a company providing water sampling and treatment services initially represented themselves as being from the ‘City of Hope'”, the district stated in its social media post. “The caller then proceeded to offer their services to the resident. We would like to clarify that the District of Hope does not call water customers offering sampling and treatment services.”
The district says water supplied to its residents is regulated by Fraser Health, sampled weekly by municipal staff and is tested by an independent laboratory to ensure it is safe to drink.
