ABBOTSFORD — Three male suspects are facing multiple charges after they allegedly robbed a retail store on Gladwin Road in Abbotsford late Saturday night (Sept. 30), fled police, and were later captured.

According to a news release from Constable Art Stele, media relations spokesperson for the Abbotsford Police Department, AbbyPD patrol officers were alerted to a robbery in progress on Saturday at 11:32 p.m. at a retail store after closing hours in the 2800 block of Gladwin Road. Members of the AbbyPD who were in the area observed a getaway vehicle matching a description fleeing the area and pursued the vehicle whose license plates showed as being stolen.

An RCMP Air 1 helicopter that was summoned for assistance spotted the vehicle, allowing members of the AbbyPD to set up and deploy tire deflation devices and stopping the fleeing vehicle from which the three male suspects fled on foot. AbbyPD patrol officers, along with a police service dog and its handler, caught the suspects and placed them in police custody.

“What appears to be an Imitation firearm, tools used in the break-and-enter and masks used in the commission of the offence have been seized,” Constable Stele said in a statement.
