Man convicted of multiple sexual offences against children, released and living in Abbotsford

ABBOTSFORD — Police in Abbotsford are advising the public of the release of a 46-year-old man convicted of sex offences against children.

Hugh Alexander McCurry was given a release order from Powell River Friday (Sept. 29) and will be residing in the Abbotsford area. McCurry’s criminal history includes sexual offences against children in 2001, 2004, 2007 and 2016.

McCurry is described as being 5’ 9” tall and weighing 153 lbs. He has grey hair and hazel-coloured eyes.

Under the terms of his release, McCurry will need to abide by a series of conditions. He is banned for life from attending a public park or public swimming area where anyone under the age of 16 is present or can reasonably be expected to be present. He can not attend a daycare centre, school playground or a community centre.

McCurry is banned from seeking, obtaining or working as a volunteer in a position of trust or authority for anyone under 16 unless he is under court-approved supervision.

McCurry must not have any contact or communicate with anyone under 16 without written permission from his bail supervisor. An exception includes incidental contact in a public place where other adults are present.
