Agassiz Fire, RCMP respond to car fire on Hwy. 7; occupants reportedly escaped

AGASSIZ — Agassiz Fire and RCMP were dispatched late Wednesday night (Sept. 27) for an emergency vehicle fire that happened west of Agassiz near Mount Woodside.

According to scanner traffic, first responders, including Agassiz Fire (Engine 1, Tender 1, and Chief 2) were dispatched to the 3000 block of Lougheed Highway (Highway 7) west of Agassiz at about 10:23 p.m. Wednesday night.

All occupants were reportedly out of the vehicle, according to scanner traffic.

The fire was knocked out by about 10:56 p.m. RCMP was on scene shortly thereafter, allowing Agassiz Fire to clear the scene.

The fire is not considered suspicious nor was the vehicle stolen, according to Jake Isaac, who spoke with a person who reports that her mother-in-law’s vehicle was the one that caught fire Wednesday night. Isaac also supplied pictures of the burned vehicle to Fraser Valley Today Thursday morning.

As of 11 a.m. Thursday morning, the vehicle had yellow tape around it. Debris surrounded the charred Hyundai Santa Fe SUV.
