Coyote put down by Conservation Officer Service after 9 people were bitten in Mission
MISSION — The BC Conservation Officer Service says conservation officers have put down a coyote in response to incidents in Mission.
In an update Wednesday (Sept. 20), BC COS says a coyote in the vicinity of one of the incidents – where three workers in the same area were bitten – was put down to ensure public safety. Conservation officer personnel say the coyote matched photos and descriptions provided by witnesses.
Conservation officers believe it is likely aggressive coyotes remain in the area, and the public is asked to continue taking precautions in case of wildlife encounters.
In the last week, nine people have been bitten throughout Mission. Fortunately, no one has been seriously injured.
