CHILLIWACK — Nearly 14 months after it began broadcasting under a new format, Chilliwack-based 89.5 JR Country is looking to hire some energetic, outgoing people to fill the roster of its Street Team.

Pattison Media Ltd., the parent company of 89.5 JR Country and Fraser Valley Today, says it has an opportunity for individuals looking to get their foot in the door with its Chilliwack radio team.

According to a job description on the JR Country website, “89.5 JR Country is looking for fun, outgoing, and diverse people to join our Street Team! The Street Team is the face of our radio stations when we are out in the community at drive fundraisers, concerts, street festivals and more.”

The entry-level position is an appealing opportunity for individuals who want to gain experience in the broadcast, event, or marketing industry. Candidates must be available most Saturdays and Sundays and some weekdays for flexible hours at events. Individuals who want to gain experience in the broadcast, event, or marketing industry are encouraged to apply, especially if you want a behind-the-scenes look at events.

Successful candidates will need to be friendly, energetic, physically fit, technically inclined, confident working independently and in team environments, have effective communication skills, be able to problem solve, think on their feet, and adapt to a variety of situations.

The compensation is between $19 and $21 an hour.

Job responsibilities and duties are outlined below:

Responsibilities

  • Set up and tear down of events including heavy equipment like tents as well as technical equipment for on-site broadcasts
  • Driving station vehicles confidently and safely including pickup trucks and large vans
  • Being knowledgeable on both radio stations and representing the station brands in a professional manner
  • Animating crowds, attracting attention, engaging, and interacting with listeners
  • Running on site contests and handing out swag
  • Taking photos and posting on social media
  • Working at indoor events as well as outside in all weather conditions
  • Working weekends and evenings as events require

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Energetic and outgoing personality
  • Self motivated, dependable, and punctual
  • Excellent communication and social skills
  • Street level promotions or customer service experience with ability to problem solve and deal with adversity
  • Possess the maturity to work without supervision in an independent setting
  • Proven record of working effectively within team environments
  • Desire to learn technical aspects of broadcast setups
  • Comfortable using social media including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Tik Tok
  • Must have a flexible schedule including availability during most weekends
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and clean driving abstract
  • Ability to lift 50lbs.
