Free ice skating in Chilliwack starts next week

CHILLIWACK — As part of Chilliwack’s 150th anniversary, the city invites residents and families to take part in four free skating sessions starting next week.

The free skates will be held Saturday, September 16 from 5:45-7:15 p.m. at Sardis Sports Complex, Sunday, Sept. 17 at the Chilliwack Coliseum from 2:30-4 p.m., and the following weekend on Saturday, Sept. 23 from 5:45-7:15 p.m. at Sardis Sports Complex, and Sunday, Sept. 24 at the Chilliwack Coliseum from 2:30-4 p.m.

Later this fall, the city will hold an evening of fireworks and food trucks on Sunday, November 18 at 7 p.m. at Townsend Park. More details will be announced closer to the event, the city wrote on its website.

Free swimming was offered at the Rotary Outdoor Pool on Reece Avenue on select Saturday afternoons over the summer in conjunction with the city’s 150th anniversary.
