Maple Ridge RCMP arrest 7 property offenders in two-day shoplifting enforcement blitz

MAPLE RIDGE — Local Mounties are continuing efforts to crack down on general street disorder and property crime in downtown Maple Ridge.

Police say Crime Reduction Unit officers arrested seven “prolific” property offenders during a two-day retail shoplifting enforcement blitz in late July.

The efforts are part of ongoing work to disrupt street crime and boost police presence, which also includes regularly meeting with business and Loss Prevention Officers, as well as monitoring offenders’ release conditions.

“The ultimate goal is to increase public safety and reduce calls for service in Maple Ridge through visible, proactive, and data-driven policing in partnership with our residents, businesses, and citizens,” said Maple Ridge RCMP S/Sgt. Chris Kelly.
