Abbotsford overpass to be demolished starting this weekend
ABBOTSFORD – Work on demolishing an overpass along Highway 1 in Abbotsford is tentatively set to begin as early as tomorrow night.
According to a statement from the British Columbia Ministry of Transportation and Transit, motorists travelling through the Highway 1/Highway 11 (Sumas Way) interchange in Abbotsford can expect major traffic-pattern changes starting Friday, Oct. 2, as contractors and crews work to safely demolish the Highway 11 overpass.
The province says motorists can expect the following traffic diversions starting at 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2, through to 5 a.m. on Monday morning, Oct. 5:
* The new westbound on-ramp from northbound Highway 11 to Highway 1 will be temporarily closed and drivers will be detoured via Marshall Road and McCallum Road.
