CHILLIWACK – A man who was already on court-ordered conditions prohibiting him from possessing weapons allegedly threatened a security guard at a Chilliwack grocery store with a knife last week, resulting in his arrest.

According to a weekly recap provided by Chilliwack RCMP spokesperson Corporal Carmen Kiener for the week of Monday, Sept. 21 through Sunday, Sept. 27, RCMP officers responded to a report of a theft from a grocery store on Yale Road in Chilliwack.

Security personnel at the undisclosed grocery store reported seeing a man stealing merchandise. As they attempted to intervene and interact with the man, the suspect allegedly threatened a security guard with a weapon before leaving the store, Cpl. Kiener said.

Cpl. Kiener said police located and arrested the man nearby, who was found to be carrying a knife, despite being subject to court-ordered conditions prohibiting possession of weapons.
