Jun 16, 2026 | 7:30 AM

UPDATE: Chilliwack Assistant Fire Chief Wade Meeres says approximately 30 firefighters from Halls 1, 2, 4 and 6 responded to the scene of a fire originating from the basement level of a residential structure that extended to the second floor.

Initial information indicated that a vehicle had left the road, collided with the residence, and came to rest inside the basement of the home.

Meeres says firefighters established a water supply and initiated an offensive fire attack to contain the blaze and prevent further extension throughout the structure. Fire crews conducted a thorough search of the residence and confirmed that all occupants had safely evacuated.

Two families have been displaced as a result of the incident and are being assisted by Chilliwack Emergency Support Services (ESS). RCMP and other utility partners also attended the scene. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries reported.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the RCMP with support from the Chilliwack Fire Department.

Anyone with information regarding this fire is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Original story:

CHILLIWACK – Chilliwack fire crews were called to a structure fire at a home after a vehicle crashed into a residence, causing a fire to break out and damage the home.

According to an audio recording provided to Fraser Valley Today by Chilliwack resident Julie Hiscock, Engines 1, 1-2, Tower 1 and the Chilliwack duty chief were paged at approximately 1:43 a.m. for a structure fire in the 46400 block of Chilliwack Central Road.

A GoFundMe has been initiated for the inhabitants of the home.

“Hi, my name is Cindy, and I am trying to help my best friend, Amanda and her family as on the night of June 16th a car drove through the front of her house and exploded, causing her rental home to catch fire and lose everything! She is a single parent with 4. Her children are 14, 13, 12, and 8. Any donations would be greatly appreciated as she did not have rental insurance and will need to find a new home and start rebuilding her’s and her family’s lives!”

The GoFundMe has raised over $1,200 since it was launched earlier today.

The house has since been boarded up.

Amanda Desiree, the mother of four, reported on social media that she and her family got out OK, and so did her pets.

A Chilliwack RCMP spokesperson says police were called to reports of a fire at a residence at about 1:43 a.m. early Tuesday morning. Initial information revealed that a vehicle had driven into a home.

Emergency responders attended the home and the fire was knocked down.

The lone driver of the vehicle was located at the scene, and alcohol is believed to be a factor at this time.

No further details are available since the investigation is ongoing.
