Firefighters battle fire at Mission landfill, request add’l manpower

MISSION – Firefighters in Mission were called to the Mission Sanitary Landfill Thursday morning after a large fire broke out at the facility.

Scanner traffic indicated Mission fire crews were paged at approximately 11 a.m. for a wood chip fire at 32000 Dewdney Trunk Road in Mission.

The fire lingered for at least an hour, prompting additional fire crews from Mission Fire Rescue Service Stations 2 and 3 to be paged at 11:58 a.m.

Mission Fire Rescue Service posted about the landfill fire at 12:06 p.m. and asked the public to avoid the area.
