CHILLIWACK – A spokesperson for the Chilliwack RCMP detachment says investigators are currently working to obtain license plate information after multiple vehicles left tire marks from burnouts in a parking lot over the weekend.

According to a recap of police activities for the week of Monday, April 13 through Sunday, April 19, Chilliwack RCMP members responded Saturday night, Apr. 18, to a report of several large trucks performing burnouts in a parking lot along Luckakuck Way.

While police did not identify the specific business, the burnouts occurred in the Canadian Tire parking lot at 45495 Luckakuck Way.

Corporal Kiener says the activity caused damage to the pavement and left tire debris and other garbage in the area. She says the vehicles in question had departed prior to police arrival.

Information obtained suggests the gathering was a planned meet‑up organized through social media.

One social media post might be connected. According to an Instagram post from Instagram account BCtrucksunite, truck owners were invited to KMS Tools in Abbotsford from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and then on to Canadian Tire in Chilliwack on Vedder Road.

“Share with your friends, let’s make it big. Pickup club stickers at the event! Please clean up after yourselves and respect the space so everyone can have fun!”

Corporal Kiener says video footage is available, and investigators are working to obtain licence plate information to identify the registered owners of the vehicles involved.

A social media post from a Facebook user named Nick Power showed tire tracks in Canadian Tire parking lot and said there were fast food wrappers from nearby restaurants strewn throughout the parking lot.

“Treating the Canadian Tire parking lot like a drag strip and garbage dump. Wendy’s & McDonald’s garbage literally everywhere. Laying down rubber is one thing but common (sic) clean up your trash.”
