B.C. Prosecution Service seeking lawyers to work in Chilliwack with max salaries exceeding $200,000 a year
CHILLIWACK — The B.C. Prosecution Service put out the call on Twitter Thursday (Dec. 15) that it is seeking qualified attorneys to prosecute criminal cases in the fast-growing Fraser Valley.
“We are hiring more!” the Crown agency wrote on Twitter. “The B.C. Prosecution Service is also seeking lawyers with all levels of experience, preferably in criminal law, to work as Crown Counsel in the eastern Fraser Valley (Abbotsford and Chilliwack). Closing Jan. 6.”
The posting is meant to establish an eligibility list for future permanent and temporary vacancies for what’s considered the Eastern Fraser Valley encompassing Chilliwack and Abbotsford.
The posting seeks lawyers who are members of the Law Society of British Columbia in good standing; counsel who are up to their fifth year of call (2018-2022) are considered Crown Counsel Level 1, with salaries of $95,022 to $123,076. Those who are practicing in their sixth to 11th year of call, considered Crown Counsel Level 2, can earn $131,261 to $170,228; experienced Crown counsel with more than 12 years of call, preferably in the practice of criminal law, earn $175,289 to $201,293.
