Impaired drivers continue to get behind the wheel in Abbotsford
ABBOTSFORD — Abbotsford Police are shedding light on what they describe as a dangerous pattern of impaired driving arrests.
Monday (April 20) night, police pulled seven impaired drivers off Abbotsford roads. Another prohibited driver was also arrested.
In a social media post, the police department is questioning the government’s approach and suggest penalties are not severe enough. “When the message isn’t being heard,” says the post. “it raises serious questions about whether our current provincial approach and the consequences imposed through administrative penalties are sufficient to change behaviour.”
The post says impaired driving is completely preventable. But despite years of education, some drivers continue to put the lives of residents at risk.
