Overnight hit-and-run kills one, closes stretch of Lefeuvre Road in Abbotsford

UPDATED at 10 A.M. Dec. 11 – ABBOTSFORD — Abbotsford Police are investigating a hit and run that killed a pedestrian early this morning (Dec. 11) in the 3600 block of Lefeuvre Road.

Police were called to the scene at 12:04 a.m. by a call from the BC Ambulance Service.

In a news release, police say emergency service workers found the pedestrian after he had been struck by a red Dodge Ram pickup truck, which fled the scene. The victim died at the scene.

The pedestrian’s truck which was parked roadside, also sustained damage from the suspect vehicle.

The Dodge Ram had crashed a short distance away. The driver fled the scene prior to police arrival and remains on the loose.

The investigation has now been transitioned to the AbbyPD Major Crime Unit (MCU). AbbyPD Patrol Officers, with the assistance of the Integrated Collision Analysis Reconstruction Service (ICARS). Investigators remained on the scene late Sunday morning.

Investigators are hoping witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage from Lefeuvre Road from Fraser Highway to Downes Road and along Downes Road from 272nd Street to Bradner Road between 11:45 p.m. and 12:30 a.m., will contact the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225 and quote Abbotsford Police File 2022-51149

ABBOTSFORD — Police investigators are trying to determine the events that led to a multi-vehicle crash in the 3600 block of Lefeuvre Road in Abbotsford early Sunday morning.

The crash has closed Lefeuvre Road. It is expected to remain closed for several hours.

Members of the Lower Mainland Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) are involved in the investigation. The Lower Mainland ICARS unit is responsible for the forensic reconstruction of collisions that result in serious injury or death.
