CHILLIWACK — Following a week in which the Chilliwack Chiefs sang Christmas carols at Waverly Seniors Village and helped serve breakfast at Cookies Grill, the Chilliwack Chiefs are looking forward to its annual Toque & Teddy Bear Toss Saturday night (Dec. 10) at the Chilliwack Coliseum.

The Chiefs announced on Facebook earlier today (Friday, Dec. 9) that the Toque & Teddy Bear Toss event will support the work of Chilliwack Community Services, which receives all the items tossed onto the ice and distributes them to families and individuals in need.

“It’s our annual Toque & Teddy Bear Toss presented by Chilliwack Volkswagen in support of Chilliwack Community Services!” the Chiefs wrote on Facebook. “When we score our first goal, throw your teddy bears, toques, mittens, scarves, and blankets on the ice! Community Services will then donate everything to those who are in need this holiday season! ”

Limited numbers of teddy bears and toques will be available for purchase at the Chilliwack Coliseum. The Chiefs will take on the Victoria Grizzlies Saturday night, Dec. 10. Game time is 6 p.m.

Earlier in the week, the Chiefs took time out of their busy schedule to sing Christmas carols to Waverly residents.

“Your Chilliwack Chiefs had a great time kicking off the holiday season yesterday by visiting our friends at Waverly Seniors Village for some Christmas carols,” the Chiefs said on social media. “We promise we’re a much better hockey team then a choir! Thanks for having us out.”
