CHILLIWACK — Fraser Health Authority can’t always fund every capital request from its existing budget, but there are valued partners in the private sector there to fill in the gap and step up for the Chilliwack community.

The all-volunteer Chilliwack Hospital Foundation announced Friday morning (Dec. 9) that Canex Building Supplies Ltd., located at 46070 Knight Road in Chilliwack, has purchased an ECG (electrocardiogram) machine for Chilliwack General Hospital.

“Wow! What an amazing donation!” the Chilliwack Hospital Foundation announced on Facebook Friday morning. “Canex Building purchased an ECG machine from our wishlist.”

According to its website, Canex opened in the fall of 1983 by servicing both the retail and contractor markets. Its customer base has since evolved into a mix focusing predominantly on the contractor and developer sectors and the agricultural community. It offers lumber, plywood, interior and exterior products, landscape masonry, doors and windows, and tools and hardware.

The foundation added that the gift was timely in light of its Christmas wish list.

“The Season of Giving is here and we couldn’t be more thankful for this generous gift,” it wrote.

Chilliwack General Hospital currently needs four ECG machines, and with this donation of $22,000, it will only need three more.

“An ECG machine is $22,000, and every donation counts. Help us reach our goal!” the foundation concluded.

The Chilliwack Hospital Foundation says that it is a community-based volunteer organization that supports Chilliwack General Hospital’s capital needs to enable our hard-working healthcare professionals to provide quality care to all residents.
