CHILLIWACK — After an uphill slog following the transition away from Recreation Excellence in September, coupled with a chronic lack of lifeguards, the YMCA of Greater Vancouver announced Thursday afternoon (Dec. 8) that swim lessons will start again in January at the Cheam Leisure Centre and the Chilliwack Landing Leisure Centre.

“We are pleased to announce we will be restarting swim lessons starting in January,” Cheam Leisure Centre wrote on Facebook.

The first set of lessons will start on Saturday, January 7 at the Chilliwack Landing Leisure Centre and Sunday, January 8 at the Cheam Leisure Centre.

Lessons will be Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at the Cheam Leisure Centre and Wednesdays and Saturdays at the Chilliwack Leisure Landing Centre.

“We are offering a limited number of lessons during this season,” the YMCA/Cheam Leisure Centre wrote on Facebook. “We look forward to growing our swim lesson programs and having more spaces for children as we continue to train and hire more aquatic staff.
