Chilliwack RCMP investigate incident at Chilliwack Secondary

Dec 5, 2022 | 12:38 PM

CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack RCMP attended Chilliwack Secondary School on Yale Road Monday morning (Dec. 5) and placed the school on a brief hold and secure while they investigated a threat at the high school.

According to multiple reports on social media this morning, Chilliwack Secondary was placed on the hold and secure while police investigated the threat.

A hold and secure is meant to protect staff and students from an outside threat when it is much safer for school personnel and pupils to remain inside the building.

Typical examples of hold and secure scenarios include bomb threats, robberies or any serious criminal offence in close proximity to a school, or where a suspect has been pursued by police near a school.
