SD33 hiring Chilliwack bus drivers with starting wage of over $29/hr.

CHILLIWACK — The Chilliwack School District is trying to recruit new bus drivers with an attractive starting wage of over $29 an hour.

In a social media post, the district says it is hiring casual school bus drivers.

Successful candidates do need a minimum class 2 driver’s license with an air endorsement.

Candidates need to attend a four-day driver’s training course, and provide a recent driver’s abstract.

The current rate of pay for a casual bus driver is $29.21 per hour.

The district says applications are currently being accepted. Please quote “Casual Bus Driver Position” on your application. Candidates may apply in person, with a detailed resume including two references and a copy of your driver’s abstract, at the Transportation Department: 44877 Yale Road, Chilliwack or email to ronald_daase@sd33.bc.ca .

Fraser Valley Today last wrote about the need for casual bus drivers in March 2024, during which time the starting wage was $28.36 an hour, meaning wages have increased by about three per cent.
