ABBOTSFORD — A local garden centre is warning customers about resellers of contaminated pet and livestock products that were recovered from its premises after a fire this summer.

Buckerfield’s Abbotsford says consumable pet and livestock products, including food and treats, have illegally entered the marketplace.

“The salvage of these contaminated consumable products is a breach of contract between Buckerfield’s and our insurer, who had agreed to discard and dispose of these items,” said the store in a social media post. “We want to emphasize that purchasing these contaminated items is not worth the risk to the health and safety of your animals.”

Customers are asked to stay alert for salvaged, discounted items on reseller sites such as Facebook Marketplace, Kijiji or Craigslist.
