UPDATE #3: Power was restored to the Keith Wilson Road corridor at approximately 4:13 a.m. Friday morning, roughly 12 hours after the outage first began.

UPDATE #2: Power has been restored for most customers in the area. As of 4:58 p.m., 148 customers remain without power.

UPDATE : Keith Wilson Road is blocked in both directions at Hopedale Road, amid a massive power outage affecting over 2,300 customers. A nearby Greendale resident tells Fraser Valley Today that a utility pole has caught fire. Chilliwack firefighters and BC Hydro have responded to the area.

Original story:

CHILLIWACK — Over 2,300 customers in Yarrow, Lindell, Sumas Prairie, East Abbotsford and parts of Greendale appear to have lost power Thursday afternoon.

According to BC Hydro’s online dashboard, the outage began at 4:01 p.m.

Crews are on site. Hydro’s website was last updated at 4:28 p.m.

There’s currently no estimate as to when power might be restored.

BC Hydro is attributing the outage to downed wires. Exactly 2,363 customers are without power.

It’s the second power outage affecting over 100 customers in the Chilliwack-Abbotsford area in less than 36 hours. A downed tree across hydro wires left a little under 500 customers without power in Abbotsford Wednesday morning due to a downed tree.

Earlier today, over 1,000 BC Hydro customers in Hope lost power. Their electricity has since been restored.
