Chilliwack residents to hold vigil tonight for senior cyclist killed in hit-and-run

CHILLIWACK — The Chilliwack community is in mourning after a local senior’s life was tragically taken in a hit-and-run collision last week.

A candlelight vigil for Catherine Dunham, known by many as Kitty, is set for Central Community Park at 6 p.m. tonight, September 26, as loved ones and other residents quietly pay their respects to the beloved 79-year-old’s life.

“We are absolutely blown away by the impact that she had on the community, and love that she was so special to so many people,” said one of her grandchildren, Julie Connelly. “I’m glad that so many got to experience how truly wonderful of a person she was.”

Dunham, who volunteered with Chilliwack Crime Prevention Services, was known to bike around Chilliwack and Rosedale, greeting anyone she came across – a memory her family wishes to honour.
