2 more power outages reported late Friday night in Chilliwack, leaving over 2,400 w’out power

CHILLIWACK – On a night where strong winds have led to a downed tree that caused an outage affecting over 2,500 customers in the Chilliwack River Valley and Cultus Lake, two more outages have occurred after 10:30 p.m. in Chilliwack Friday night.

In the latest development, hundreds of customers in the Greendale area of Chilliwack saw their power out go out late Friday night.

BC Hydro’s online dashboard indicates that 925 customers in Greendale and parts of Chilliwack Mountain saw their electricity go out at 10:43 p.m. Friday night (Sept. 25) due to a motor vehicle accident. Crews have been assigned to repair the outage. Hydro’s website for this specific outage was last updated at 11:06 p.m.

The affected customers are located south of Chilliwack Mountain Road, east of Arnold Road, north of Keith Wilson Road and west of Evans Road.

There are reports that a vehicle struck a pole on Yale Road, though it’s not immediately known where that occurred.

A second outage in the Chilliwack Mountain area is being reported on BC Hydro’s online dashboard. Approximately 1,491 customers lost power at 10:42 p.m. This outage is being attributed to a motor vehicle accident as well.

The affected area for these 904 customers is north of Progress Way, west of Dyke Road and south of Wellington Avenue, taking in neighbourhoods like Cedarbrook and parts of Squiaala 8 (First Nation reserve) and Skway 5 (First Nation reserve).
