One incident involved an orange SUV, which had also turned up sideways, this time in a ditch along Sylvester Road.

The driver was reportedly trying to turn around when he backed into the ditch – and got stuck.

Police attended and gave him a series of standard field sobriety tests, which then supported the theory that he was high on drugs.

Officers impounded the man’s SUV and gave him a one-day driving ban, though he couldn’t show his licence card because Surrey police had already seized it a week earlier for another 24-hour prohibition.

Roughly five kilometres away, near Farms Road and Stave Lake Road in Hatzic, Mission RCMP pulled over a white Dodge pickup reportedly “driving erratically” and confirmed the driver appeared impaired.

He failed two roadside breathalyzer tests.

The following evening, two witnesses reported that a woman drove over a curb near Albert McMahon Elementary School and began taking items from it in the parking lot. 

Attending police confirmed that the 43-year-old seemed to be impaired.

She also failed two roadside breathalyzer tests.

Each driver received a 90-day driving prohibition and a 30-day vehicle impound, except for the man with a 24-hour ban.

Mission RCMP’s latest Community Connection says officers responded to 333 calls for service between September 14 and September 20.
