Abbotsford inmate hospitalized after assault with multiple assailants

ABBOTSFORD — The Correctional Service of Canada says an inmate has been taken to hospital after an assault at Matsqui Institution, a medium-security facility in Abbotsford.
The incident took place last week, on September 10. Staff evaluated the injured inmate and took them to an outside hospital. The inmate has since returned to the institution.
The Abbotsford Police Department and the institution are investigating.
All assailants have been identified, and the “appropriate” actions have been taken, says the CSC.
