AbbyPD details involvement in multi-city drug trafficking investigation

ABBOTSFORD — Abbotsford police are giving an update on their involvement in a multi-jurisdictional drug trafficking investigation that started at home.

In April 2025, AbbyPD patrol officers spotted a man related to a local drug trafficking ring driving around despite being banned from doing so.

Police then arrested the driver and found illegal drugs and a handgun in his belongings, leading to the launch of Project Interruption – an initiative targeting 36-year-old Tyler Missen and his involvement in the drug trafficking network.

Earlier this year, Chilliwack RCMP reached out to the Abbotsford Police Department to say they’ve started their own investigation into Missen, and the two police departments exchanged information.

On August 31, Chilliwack RCMP announced that Missen pleaded guilty to various offences and has been sentenced.

AbbyPD is now clarifying that the two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, as well as the possession charges of a firearm contrary to an order, a restricted or prohibited firearm, and a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, have all stemmed from the Abbotsford investigation.

Missen also pleaded guilty to one count of possession for trafficking in connection with the Chilliwack investigation.

“Public safety partnerships and targeted funding initiatives such as PTEP enhance law enforcement’s ability to disrupt organized criminal activity and contribute to a safer community for the residents of Abbotsford,” said AbbyPD.

Missen, a Langley resident, is facing 11.5 years in custody.
