Abbotsford Police conduct high-risk arrest after getting a call about a man with a rifle

ABBOTSFORD – Police in Abbotsford say they conducted a high-risk arrest Tuesday morning after getting a call about a man who allegedly had a rifle in his possession, but the man in actuality was trying to sell an airsoft rifle.

In a statement provided to Fraser Valley Today, the Abbotsford Police Department says patrol officers responded to a weapons calls in the 32300 block of South Fraser Way at approximately 9:50 a.m. Tuesday morning (Sept. 15) after a citizen reported seeing a man holding a rifle.

Police say AbbyPD officers immediately attended the area, located the individual in question, and conducted a high-risk arrest. The man was taken into custody without incident. Investigators subsequently determined the firearm was an airsoft rifle wrapped in a blanket.
