Chilliwack Chamber CEO files to run for city council
CHILLIWACK – A longtime business and community leader in Chilliwack has filed to run for Chilliwack City Council in this fall’s municipal election.
Leanna Kemp, CEO of the Chilliwack Chamber, plans to incorporate feedback and input from constituents into her campaign, and address issues like growth and taxation.
“I believe we are better together, and that collaboration is how most problems actually get solved,” Leanna Kemp said. “My job is to listen, learn from what I hear, and turn that into action, including being honest about what growth costs and making sure we grow our tax base the smart way, so it doesn’t land on homeowners. That is the kind of leadership I want to bring to the council table.”
Kemp has resided in Chilliwack for approximately 18 years dating back to 2008. That’s when she moved here after marrying her husband, whose roots are in Chilliwack. Together they have raised their two children, who are now in their early teens and are active in local sports, in the community.
