Abbotsford teen arrested for bear spraying a fellow Abbotsford teen at rec centre in Mission

MISSION – Police in Mission say an Abbotsford teen has been arrested aboard a BC Transit bus after he allegedly bear sprayed another teen from Abbotsford at a rec centre in Mission last week.

In a statement, Mission RCMP spokesperson Corporal Harrison Mohr says police officers were dispatched for a bear-spray incident at the Mission Leisure Centre on Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 8. A 15-year-old was reportedly bear-sprayed by another 15-year-old male from Abbotsford, who subsequently fled the scene. It’s not immediately clear what led to the altercation between the two teens.

Officers responded and attended the Mission Leisure Centre where they located the victim who was trying to wash off the bear spray at the nearby spray park. After speaking with the victim and witnesses, police learned that the youth suspect might be headed back to Abbotsford.

Corporal Mohr says Mission RCMP pulled over a BC Transit bus on its way to Abbotsford, located the youth on the bus, and arrested him for assault with a weapon. He says bear spray and a concealed knife were located on the male.
