Man hospitalized after machete attack at downtown Chilliwack park
CHILLIWACK – Police in Chilliwack say a man reluctantly agreed to go to hospital for treatment after a machete attack at a park next to the downtown Chilliwack library this past week.
According to a statement from Chilliwack RCMP Corporal Carmen Kiener as part of her weekly recap for August 17-23, officers responded to Salish Park in downtown Chilliwack after getting reports of an assault involving a machete. Mounties responded to the area and located an injured man nearby who appeared to require urgent medical attention.
Cpl. Kiener says the man was initially unwilling to cooperate with police and repeatedly tried to leave the area. After extensive efforts by RCMP members, he reluctantly agreed to attend hospital for treatment.
The victim declined to provide information regarding those responsible for the assault, limiting investigators’ ability to identify potential suspects.
