Construction project manager, community advocate to run for Chilliwack City Council
CHILLIWACK – A community advocate who works as a construction project manager and thrives on being a leader in the trades and a champion of immigrant rights will run for Chilliwack City Council in the municipal election this fall.
Chilliwack resident Ghazaleh Nozamani, who founded Love Without Borders, a Chilliwack-based non-profit organization dedicated to helping immigrants and refugees build successful lives in Canada, has a unique story underpinning her council candidacy.
Born in Iran, she was arrested and tortured by the country’s Revolutionary Guard after participating in pro-democracy student protests before eventually fleeing the regime and building a new life in Canada.
Through Love Without Borders, Nozamani has endeavoured to provide support, skills training, advocacy, housing assistance, and community connections for newcomers.
