18-year-old driver crashes into utility pole in Mission, female passenger transported to hospital
MISSION – Police in Mission say the 18-year-old driver of an SUV was allegedly travelling at a high rate of speed and tried to pass another vehicle before losing control and crashing into a utility pole last weekend.
According to a statement from Mission RCMP Corporal Harrison Mohr, emergency responders in Mission attended to a single-vehicle collision on Dewdney Trunk Road near Wilson Street around 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, August 23, after a blue Ford Edge crashed into a utility pole.
A witness reported that the car had been travelling eastbound at a high rate of speed and was passing another vehicle in the opposing lane, when it quickly tried to get back into its own lane to avoid an oncoming westbound vehicle.
Police say the driver subsequently lost control and crashed.
