CHILLIWACK – Cleaning up the debris left by irresponsible backcountry users wasn’t the fun part.

But seeing a gorgeous part of the Chilliwack River Valley returned to its naturally pristine environment under gorgeous sunny skies is the reward in and of itself.

As reported by Fraser Valley Today earlier this week, Ross Aikenhead and some like-minded volunteers planned to time out of their weekend to clean up an illegal shooting area approximately 2.5 kilometres south of Chilliwack Lake Road along New Borden Forest Service Road.

Rakes, shovels, garbage bags and a magnetic sweeper were provided to volunteers during the event.

Katarina Genevieve posted to social media over the weekend that there wasn’t just ammunition leftover at the site.

There were broken bottles, empty cartridges, live ammunition, and torched and melted baby diapers, if you can wrap your head around the last one.
