Mission Hospital E.R. closes overnight, 4th time in the past month
MISSION β Mission Memorial Hospital has now issued the third consecutive temporary Sunday shutdown of its emergency department β the fourth overall in the past month alone.
In a news release, Fraser Health says the change will be in effect from Sunday, June 14, at 5 p.m., to Monday, June 15, at 8 a.m., due to staffing issues.
As with all service disruptions, doctors will aim to see all patients already in the E.R. before their shifts end at 11 p.m. After that, emergency-trained nurses will stay on-site to help walk-in patients with basic care or transfer more urgent needs to a neighbouring hospital.
βAll other Fraser Health Emergency Departments remain open and have emergency physicians on site; however, high numbers of people seeking care and human resources challenges at many of our hospital emergency departments may lead to longer wait times for patients with non-urgent care concerns,β said Fraser Health.
