Flood mitigation work planned for Tamihi Creek Bridge starting late July
CHILLIWACK — Boaters in the Chilliwack River Valley may have to watch out for crews as flood repairs get underway on the Tamihi Creek Bridge this summer.
The community says additional riprap, or rock armouring, is expected to be installed on the bridge in late July to replace the rocks lost around the north pier and structure.
“The bridge piers are founded on spread footings and require additional riprap protection to reduce the risk of damage to the bridge in future flood events,” wrote the Chilliwack River Valley Community.
All in-stream work that may affect river traffic is set to take place between August 1 and August 15.
