SURREY — A career criminal who regularly took transit has been arrested and now faces multiple drug- and gun-related charges after an investigation led by transit police.

Crime suppression officers with the Metro Vancouver Transit Police first executed a search warrant on a man who was known to police February 10, from which they found several firearms and substances.

Court records show he then breached his release order three times between March 14 and April 5 before being arrested on May 17.

Prosecutors have now approved 25 charges against 33-year-old Sean Robert Gullick, including five counts of possessing a controlled substance for trafficking and 11 firearm-related offences.

He also faces several assault and property crime charges, such as identity theft, possessing forgery instruments and stolen property under $5000, illegally dealing with an identity document, assault with a weapon and obstructing a police officer.

“Through the use of intelligence and targeted policing in areas of concern, the Transit Police Crime Suppression Team takes on serious crime along the transit system,” said Constable Sunny Kainth. “We are proud that their hard work in this case has resulted in a dangerous individual and multiple firearms being taken off of the transit system.”

Gullick, who also went by Micke Smith, had previously been convicted of numerous offences dating back to 2012, including one warrant for alleged home robberies in Edmonton, Alberta.

He is set to appear in court again on June 16.
