Hope RCMP stop suspected catalytic convertors thieves

HOPE — Mounties in Hope were called to the local GMC dealership early Saturday morning (April 18) following a call from the dealership’s security contractor, foiling a break-in incident.
According to police, when officers arrived on the scene around 4 a.m., they saw two suspects running from the area. One person was arrested however the second suspect managed to get away.
Members of the Valley Protection Services security team allege the men were using electrical grinders to remove catalytic converters from a number of the new vehicles in stock.
RCMP says the suspect was arrested and his vehicle was located nearby. It was seized for further inspection. The suspect is expected to appear in court at a later date.
