SURREY — Surrey police are seeking more information on a collision that forced crews to use the Jaws of Life for a patient Saturday morning.

At around 10:35 a.m., the Surrey Police Service received reports of a multi-vehicle collision between a five-tonne commercial vehicle and a passenger car at the intersection of Highway 10 and 192 Street, near 56 Avenue.

The passenger car driver, who was its only occupant, had to be extracted from the vehicle by Surrey firefighters.

He was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The semi driver was uninjured and remained at the scene.

SPS’s Collision Investigation Unit are now investigating the incident and its cause.

Highway 10 at 192 Street reopened by 3 p.m., and SPS says the patient’s condition has reportedly improved and that their injuries are no longer considered serious.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage is asked to contact the SPS non-emergency line at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 26-36674 (SP).

This was the second collision along Highway 10 that morning.
