Heavier snow expected on the Coquihalla between Hope and Merritt later today, overnight
COQUIHALLA HIGHWAY — Yellowhead Road and Bridge Nicola Ltd., the provincial highway contractor, says heavier snow is expected later today as temperatures drop across its service area.
According to a social media bulletin, YRB Nicola says there is light snowfall across its service area Monday morning as snow levels have dipped with the lower temperatures, resulting in light road snow accumulation at lower elevations.
The light snow will give away to a forecasted increase in snowfall this afternoon and into the evening. Some forecasts are calling for as much as 20 centimetres of snow on the Okanagan Connector and the Coquihalla from Merritt to Kamloops, starting at around 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
“Please be prepared for winter driving conditions if travelling through the area. Another reminder to never pass a plow truck on the right, and allow our operators ample room to perform their duties safely,” YRB Nicola wrote online.
